The
President of COMETSA Group, and Vice-President Stakeholder Relations, Institute
of People Management (IPM), Mr Sam Tsima is the inaugural Chairperson of
Gauteng Steering Committee: Sport for Social Change Network (SSCN) Southern
Africa. Mr Sam Tsima was appointed at the meeting held at the offices of the
Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Hatfield,
Pretoria, on the 22nd November 2012.
The
members elected to serve on the SSCN Gauteng Steering Committee are:

The Sport for Social Change Network (SSCN) is a meeting
point for dynamic organizations involved or interested in using sport as a tool
to make social change happen. It consists of regional Coordination Hubs that
are currently being set up in Brazil, Eastern Africa, London and Southern
Africa with the support of Nike and local partners, with more continents to
follow. In Southern Africa, Nike has partnered with YDF to enable one of the
member NGOs - Altus Sport - to convene the network. See information on partners.
Objectives
The Southern African SSCN aims to
connect numerous organizations across 10 countries: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho,
Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Currently we have more than 40 members in 6 countries.
Vision
To be a key strategic partner spearheading the delivery of
social impact through sport
Mission
To create opportunities to strengthen the growth and impact
of the sport for social change network towards excellence in southern Africa,
through:
§ Promoting the use of sport as a main stream tool for social
change
§ Innovative approaches that are community-driven and owned
§ Effective structures of governance, which promotes
innovation and leadership through collaboration and partnerships
§ A collaborative strategy and integrative approach to create
a nurturing and conducive environment for sport for social change at all levels
of engagement by focusing on the aspirations and needs of member organizations,
youth and participants
§ Contributing to national and regional development objectives
relating to youth empowerment, skill development and economic independency
§ Develop and support of quality programmes that result in
measurable impact for reflective learning and evidenced-based decision-making
